Dog Training- Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme
It's fair to say that most owners are not looking for dogs ready to enter Crufts obedience and we fully understand this. Most people want calm, well behaved dogs that happily fit into family life, this is what we take pride and specialise in.
We train you and your dog in a calm and enjoyable environment whereby you and your dog can learn to understand each other using non aggressive methods.
As much as we love our dogs, dogs have their own needs. One of these basic needs is to know who their pack leader is. When that is clear a dog will be happier , and better behaved. One of our goals is to help you to establish that pack leader/follower relationship.
In our classes we instruct you in how to use tried and tested methods of positive reinforcement to train your dog. We also use dog friendly techniques of using the same communication methods, body language and voice control , that a dog follows as part of its instinctual pack mentality.
Training a dog to an acceptable level of obedience is an essential requirement if an owner and their dog are to co-exist in a harmonious relationship, not only within their family/pack circle , but within society as a whole.

Aims of the Kennel Club Good Citizen Scheme
-Bronze Level for dogs that are relatively new to training.
-Silver Level for dogs that have their bronze level and have graduated to a higher learning curve.
-Gold Level , this is the highest level of good citizenship and will show you a well behaved and trained domestic pet.
Just to give an example of what is required, in the Bronze level the dog must recall, walk correctly on a lead, stay in one position on command, and allow the owner to groom , clean and inspect the dog. The owner must also be able to show that they have an understanding of the responsibility and care aspects of owning a dog.
The tests are not competitive as they are designed to show that an owner has an understanding of the basics of how to care for their dog and that they have good control. The aim is to produce happy, contented dogs and owners. At the completion of each level a certificate will be awarded.
