 Dog Behaviour Insurance Referrals

As a full member of The CFBA I am authorised to accept Vet Referrals for behavioural issues under Dog insurance Policies.

Most pet insurance companies recognise the CFBA for clients who are referred by their veterinary surgeon. (Pet Insurance does not cover dog training). It is suggested that that you contact your insurance provider in advance of booking a consultation to check the details of cover and or exceptions within their specific policy type.

If you contact us directly and wish to use your pet insurance we will explain the procedure as above and ask you to contact your veterinarian to obtain a referral, either verbal or written depending on the company that the pet is insured with and their requirements.-If you require a referral form we will be happy to email one to you.

All insurance behaviour cases are seen on veterinary referral only, this means that the whole process of helping your dog is kept on a professional basis and that the vet is kept informed of everything to do with your dogs training. It also means that we can discuss the case and refer you back to the vet should any form of medical intervention be required.

Prior to the consultation you will be sent a questionnaire, this asks for as much detail as possible about your dog, their daily routine and the specific problems you are encountering. The questionnaire should be returned 2-3 days before the consultation so as we have a detailed picture before we visit you.

You will receive a full written report covering everything discussed at the consultation within 7 working days, this will be individually tailored to your dog and its specific problems - your vet will also receive a written report.

We subsequently send a copy of any report on your dogs behaviour to the referring veterinarian for his/her perusal. If the behaviour presented to us is such that we feel that a medical examination of the dog in question is relevant (to the exhibited behaviour problem) - we advise the client accordingly.

Consultation fees are payable at the consultation. In some cases, we will agree to be paid directly from the Pet Insurance Company, but this must be arranged prior to the consultation appointment.

Fees are dependent on Behavioural Problem and number of visits required-Please contact us at ABC for For Dogs for further details
